Jezza's Turbo LJ

I made a short trip to Northwest OHV park on black Friday. We ended up having some stockish newer Jeeps in our group. I had to do some light winching with a redirect. I had forgotten to change out my cable snatch blocks to rings when I went from cable to synthetic rope. I didn't see any decent quality rings on the market that were reasonably priced. There are some nice ones for big money. I had some extra 7075 scrap sitting around, so I made my own. I made them bigger than most of the cheap ones. I also ran them through my new in house clear anodizing process. I think they look pretty good to me.

Maybe I could wheel with you guys? Once I install my savvy tummy tuck,That and along with the other supporting mods 😁.......and maybe some 33s cause I'm on 31s They get the job done but just take a while to do so 😅

Absolutely, I would get the 33s though. There were some guys out there with 33s on JKs, which is parallel to a TJ with 31s.

Added a front camera today. I already had the head unit in for a while now. I was watching some off road shows and they were using the front camera to look ahead when dropping off ledges. It seemed like a good idea to me. I seem to always find myself stopping and walking out front or standing on the rock sliders to see how the ledges drop. My head unit allows for displaying the camera all the time. I bought the camera from Amazon for cheap. Quality is okay, although it does have the guide lines on it. Curious to try it out.

Did you see what I did with the two front cameras? Basically bought a cheap switchable signal input thingy and put a camera under each end of the bumper pointed at the tires so I can see the actual tire placement. Just an idea to consider.

I hadn't seen that, I'm gonna have to look at that. The cameras are cheap, I wouldn't mind adding more.

I'm thinking about fabbing up a new front bumper. My current one is a Chinesium unit that came with the TJ when I bought it. I have a pile of 1/4" aluminum plate that I can't use for anything else already. This is the design I sketched up so far. Thoughts?

For structural stability the rear flange should be 90* and then another 90* pointing back toward the grill. It’s discussed in one of the Savvy threads when they initially changed the design. I don’t understand the details.

Interesting, I looked through some threads and all I can see is a single 90° bend on the back of the top plate. I have to be a little careful in my design as my brake press doesn't have super large radius on the dies. Bending that 1/4" too tight might cause it to fatigue or crack. I could probably do a double 90 as long as there is a decent amount of distance between them.

Make the shackle points ribbed in the center maybe? Add some dimpling on the sides?
Smoothen out the end caps too but they look pretty good to me though 😁!

I thought about a recessed area near the bolts. The ends get a big chamfer put on them that's not in the model. The end caps are going to be welded and brake bent as well.

Actually a radius outside looks a little better to me.

YES😆 exactly like that😁!
I figured you were gonna do some chamfering/rounding around the radius of where a shackle would go!

What do you think about having the radius be dimpled like you did on the side,But have it go from the radius of the shackle point all the way back to where the bolts go? Can't explain myself how I'd like but I hope you get what I mean ?
Edit-Very rough sketch but hear me out ⬇️

Edit#2 I think you know what I mean from you saying "I thought about a recessed area near the bolts."

Are you still running a GT3582 turbo mentioned on page 1? And is it the turbo you use in the 4.0l kit?

What would you use for a low boost stroker?

If I remember correctly when I spoke to him,the kit has a smaller frame 55mm turbo from precision,Don't know the exact A/R for the exhaust side but it was in the low .60s

My 2 cents: That turbo sounds about right for a low boost, but If it were me I'd get something a bit bigger for if I had a stroker,Something that'll flow better to keep up with the displacement of a stroker and for it to leave some power on the table for me to utilize.....for some fun😆

Yep, I still have the 3582 on the LJ currently. The kits come with a 5431 Precision turbo. It's a 54mm with a T3 flange. The packaging is a little tight with the factory airbox on the kits. If you went much bigger on the turbo the airbox may need to find a new place to live. That 5431 is good for around 500 crank hp that should easily support a mild stroker with low boost. There is also an upgrade for that turbo that adds an additional 85hp.
