Thinking about a shift cable set up. It looks like the Novak comes with some rubber threaded grommets that the Savvy doesn't have but the Novak is $30 more if you count shipping. I could add the grommets on my own if I wanted. Also read that the Savvy has no paper work which I don't need but it kind of says something about customer care. Anybody have real world experience with either and an opinion of differences.

Savvy's has a couple improvements over Novak's. The improvements were suggested to Novak first but when they didn't incorporate them Savvy came out with its own improved version.

I've used the Novak for a long time. It was a big improvement over the stock TC linkage which would drop into neutral on its own at some of the worst possible times. Don't have experience with the Savvy.

I installed the Savvy version this past Summer. It took longer to remove the boogered-up OEM linkage than it took to install the new one. I finally took a Sawzall to the bracket on the back of the TC. It made it a lot easier to remove that hidden bolt.

If you do a search on this topic on this forum, you'll see @mrblaine pointed out in another thread that the Savvy design is an improvement of the Novak design, and that the Novak design has several flaws with it.

So given the choice between the two, you'd be stupid not to choose the Savvy shifter. It is undoubtedly the better of the two.

I've had the Savvy and can attest to this.

I've done a Savvy 231 and 241 shifter, as well as a Novak shifter. It's been a while since I installed a Novak version, but I remember it being more difficult to install. The Novak version I had required assembly and was not fun figuring it out. The Savvy versions I've done were mostly assembled and very easy to install. As was said, the most difficult part of either was getting the old linkage out.

Good Morning Guys,

My name is Sean, I'm an official representative from Novak. I'm here to answer questions and provide resources.

Savvy vs Novak. Originally Savvy was purchasing directly from us, they no longer are, and haven't for several years now.

We make a great Shift Cable Assembly: Here's the link: https://novak-adapt.com/catalog/shifters/sk2xc.html

If you have any questions, ask them here, or give us a call. We are proud to be a Stateside company, and have been since 1967. We are nestled in the middle of the Rockies in a town called Logan, UT. 435-753-2513

It's been said that there were some minor design issues with your cable shifter that were pointed out but never addressed and that is why Savvy started to sell their own version. I'd have to go & try to find some of those threads. But I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on the subject will chime in here at some point.

We never tear down any other company. Bad business practice. We do tend to believe our product is great, and of course if there are any flaws people find. Please let us know. One great thing, since we are Stateside, you can call us directly: 435-753-2513

Not trying to tear down any other companies. Just pointing out why the Savvy cable shifter is suggested over the Novak.

I'm a long time Novak user. I can't compare it to Savvy but the Novak has worked flawlessly for my use case. I would buy again.
