Are Mopar water pumps made in china ? My wife's 04 4.0 just failed. I'm looking for real world experience's with pumps available these days. After watching my go to Stant turn into Motorad , I am gun shy about just going with a name and getting overpriced crap.
Thoughts ? , Thanks !

Is it a 20 year old Mopar from 2004 or is it a recent (within last 4-5 years or so) Mopar?

The pump that failed is the 20 year old factory part , I would buy another factory part if I knew it was the same, however I don't want to spend crazy money
and find out it's just a reboxed Duralast quality part. , ( Que , Jerry's Duralast rant ) . I miss Jerry !

I don't know if the replacements today are the same as the old ones, but the replacements seem to be better than what else is out there. For a while the true Mopar quality pumps were discontinued and basically a parts store pump was stuck in a Mopar box and sold as Mopar. Around 5 years ago they brought back the Mopar pumps that have the pentastar on them and a Mopar part number, so I would assume they are better.

I've bought Mopar water pumps that were made in the US, Mexico, and India. You might even get a combo one like this.

I wound up with one of the 2018 parts store Mopars on my 99. I didn't like it but it still seemed better than the other two I looked at so I sent it. Never gave me any problems but I only had it another 3 years before I bought the LJ and sold the 99.

The LJ has a new Mopar that looks legit with the logo and p/n. So far so good, but only a year in.

Were those engraved with this logo?

negative.

the far left is the one I bought from the local Mopar 'ship and put on my 99. It looked slightly different and had different stuff stamped into it, but there was nothing on it to identify it as anything other than generic parts store junk. In some ways it looked even cheaper than the parts store junk, like how the bolt landing surfaces and the hose connection surface aren't even machined.

I replaced my waterpump with a "mopar" unit in 2016. In 2021 it failed and upon further inspection, wasn't a mopar at all, some unidentified water pump that I purchased from wermopar.com. I replaced it with a NAPA brand Gates and so far the Gates has held up, though it only has 5k miles or so on it.

Yeah, you got the AF one I just posted about. I bought one and sent it back to get a NAPA Gates because the “Mopar” did not inspire confidence at all.
