Hey guys I’m new to automatic tjs I’ve only ever had manuals in the past. I have a 42RLE in my jeep with only 80k miles on it, i have 35” tires and am regeared to 5.13. I’ve been having an issue when I’m accelerating to freeway speeds sometimes it does not shift into over drive which I have seen in this forum a ton but it’s also accompanied by a smell I can only compare to a burning clutch in a manual. Do yall have any idea what this could be or what the issue is? Fluid is at perfect level and looks brand spanking new I bought the jeep at a very small dealership and I’m assuming all of the fluids were replaced before I bought it. I’ve done a full axle swap sye and changed the motor oil. Everything was clean and looked like new fluid trans pan has what looks to be brand new paint marker numbering the bolts on the pan. I’ve never owned an automatic before so I’m just at a loss with this one
If it helps when it fails to shift to overdrive if I feather the throttle a tad it will shift into over drive after a few very light taps like barely enough to rev
also want to note after this happened I got home and checked around for excessive heat and it didn’t seem like the trans was abnormally radiating very hot. I am going to install a temp gauge and trans cooler asap but want to get this sorted out too
