My son is replacing his windshield frame due to rust, and we need a solution to the hinge bolts. The OEM style are press fitted.

The windshield he bought came with a lock pin that is ugly as sin.

My best idea is a binding barrel on one side and a sleeve and bolt on the other, but I'm looking for any ideas that might be better solutions.

For reference, this hinge.

Can’t help here, sorry. I think @Wildman messed around with his windshield hinges, maybe he can help.

I never could get the pins out and didn't want to mess them up so stopped.

I'd bought these to replace the hinge pins with these.

Ok, that’s what came with the windshield. If no better ideas we’ll try a barrel binding bolt, sleeve, and bolt. Trying to make it look as factory as possible.

I ended up doing a regular stainless steel bolt, if you choose to go that route. Not exactly a factory look, and a downside to doing it this way is I have to remove the nut and back the bolt out some to remove the cowl

That's good to know that a nut can interfere with the cowl removal. I think we saw your thread when researching. I think we'll going with a really low profile slotted carriage bolt on the side of the hinge that's toward the middle of the vehicle and hopefully avoid that. 🙂
