What did you do to your TJ today?

Lowered the spare 6 inches on the bumper mounted tire carrier. Don't know the brand of bumper/carrier but thought it was just mounted crazy high when we got the Jeep in March. Added a 2x2 vertical piece, cut off the bracket and lowered it to where the bottom of the 33" tire is even with the top of the bumper. (In the pic it looks lower.) Rear visibility is going to be so much better, especially for the boss as this is our around town daily driver. Should be less stress on the pivot too.

That's a Smittybuilt bumper/carrier. If I could weld, I would do that mod to mine. Nice work!
 
The TJ and I watched this BleepinJeep video on Bronco vs Jeeps (Pritchett Canyon). So funny watching an XJ with a Dana 35 and stock shafts on 33s, outperform a JK, WJ and Bronco on 40s. Maybe it's the Patagonia tires that screwed up the other vehicles. :unsure:


I watched that video a month or so ago. That little xj was a damn Billy goat! It showed up everything else on the trail that day. Kinda makes me want to get my kid an Accord and build his XJ up.

I am not taking my Wiha screwdrivers to it and using them as a chisel.

The wonder bar, it’s just not for carpentry…😁

The new deep trans oil pan should be here tomorrow.

I don't know what year your TJ is or if it you got it with a transmission skid plate or not but you may want to make sure that oil pan isn't so deep it will be in the way of reinstalling (or adding) the transmission skid plate (in the future).

I'm also not sure if you're planning on off roading or not so maybe that depth doesn't matter.

Anyway, you're doing quite a bit of stuff and I think we all like to see other Jeepers doing that.(y)(y)

Their recent video on the recap of their OnX competition was pretty interesting to see how the rigs worked with Pats in both Moab and Colorado.

I got it based off of several recommendations here and many others have said that it fits with a stock skid plate. It might be tight, but I heard that it fits.
 
I want my XJ back now. It was a fun vehicle to drive.

It really is. His is basically stock, with a very small lift (HD springs in the rear and spacers in the front that gave it about an inch of clearance) and 31" tires. Added a stereo and good speakers, and a backup camera. I've been using it as a run-around-town vehicle for the past 3 years as we have worked on it and fixed all its little problems and neglect.

The cabin is very similar to my TJ, but has AC. So similar, in fact, that I occasionally find myself trying to press in the clutch that ain't there!🤣

Someone said this was the best $20 spent in awhile so I had to see what all the buzz was about. Actually $16. Retiring the old worn “Jeep” steering wheel cover
