What did you do to your TJ today?

I replaced my original blower motor, fan relay, and the blend door motor.

For those who may care:
New Mopar fan was marked made in USA.
New WVE relay was marked made in Mexico.
New Mopar blend motor was made in "CN".

This all started because I thought my original fan was failing and heating the HVAC panel.

As I was troubleshooting I thought I had no air movement on low fan. That explains the relay.

Also I could hear the blend motor humming like it was switching between settings, but I wasn't turning it. So that was added to the list.

I think it's all good now. Air on all speeds and a quiet blend motor.

Interestingly, there was a different layout on the fan connection between old and new. Still plugged right up, though.

Lowered the spare 6 inches on the bumper mounted tire carrier. Don't know the brand of bumper/carrier but thought it was just mounted crazy high when we got the Jeep in March. Added a 2x2 vertical piece, cut off the bracket and lowered it to where the bottom of the 33" tire is even with the top of the bumper. (In the pic it looks lower.) Rear visibility is going to be so much better, especially for the boss as this is our around town daily driver. Should be less stress on the pivot too.

Decided to also change the front and rear diff fluid. Getting the front diff cover off was pretty easy relatively. Getting the rear diff cover off is a pain in the ass.

Also, thoughts on using gaskets or RTV for putting the covers back on?

Finished up installing the front half of a Savvy Mid Arm. I had to custom fabricate a transmission skid support to clear the new upper control arm. The shop only had 2” angle iron in my desired 3/16” thickness so I cut it down to 1.25”.

I pulled the locker sensor when dropping the axle because I didn’t know about the sensor plunger causing a constantly locked state upon reinstallation. Therefore I got to do a 4hr bonus project of pulling the ring gear and carrier to do the matchstick trick on the sensor plunger. All is back together and working now.

I’m very happy to have the first half of the project finished.

Dallas Off Road does a ton of regears and they use black RTV. I put mine back on with RTV today. Hand tight for the first hour, then torque down. No sweating or leaking.

Going to weigh it tomorrow as it was in the first pic to see what the recent mods did to the original number.
