What did you do to your TJ today?

Speaking of touching up the sunburn, I decided to finally get around to that today because weather was pretty good for painting. I have used this Color rite brand with their color & clear coat kits on motorcycle tanks before with great results.

I had some fairly mild sunburnt areas but only on the windshield frame. My cowl and hood are in good shape. The only prep I did was clean with alchohol and scrub with triple 000 steel wool. Its not perfectly smooth but this aint no show-n-shine rig.

I absolutely love this paint! It flows on like butter and actually makes me feel like I know what I am doing

Not the greatest pictures but it came out pretty good and stopped the paint cancer for a while.
Looks good, gives me hope for some touch up paint I need to do on the JK.

Are you going to stroke that one (pardon the expression)?

I’ve looked into it when I was building my last one. That’s actually a good idea that I had forgotten about. I’ll have to check around for parts availability. I can’t remember off the top of my head what crank they use to stroke the 2.5L.

1. Solved the mystery of the toggling ASD relay in friends XJ; cam sensor had frayed wiring.

2. Re-troubleshot friends ‘01 TJ’s AC and determined that the compressor is getting 12V & solid ground but still won’t turn on despite the computer turning on the relay. Conclusion: bad compressor or clutch or something therein.

3. Finally got around to resolving the P301 in my ‘02. Put in a Bosch iridium gapped at about 0.032 & took it for a nice 20 minute test drive. Code is gone, just need monitors to be ready so I can pass my inspection. I should probably do the other plugs as well but I wanted to be sure it was the plug first.

4. Went on a nice night drive on the north Texas backroads in my ‘97 with my friend with the TJ from #2 above. Weather was fantastic after the storms today. It’s been super hot and I’ve hardly driven either TJ at all over the past several months.

Thought I had fixed my dash light problem but while bouncing around on some corrugated gravel roads on the weekend it happened again…
Didn’t stop me going for a nice drive out to a surf beach called Raglan about two hours south west of me.

A little maintenance that I've been putting off for 3 years ...valve cover gasket.

Went ahead and cleaned the cover up real good too, before installing new grommets and CCV elbows and orifice.

The heat shield under the injectors was crumbling so I'm at a standstill until the new one is delivered tomorrow.

Is that one pig or two?....Jesus you'll have a heart attack before your done😀

I think it's called the "widow maker". Wives make them for their husbands when they want the life insurance money faster. My wife puts cheese and mayonnaise on mine, then deep fries the bread in butter. I guess I should have told her that I left all of my money to my cat. He supports WTJF and he got into this country legally. He got a FJB tattoo after the Vet cut his balls off. ;) 🇺🇸

Thanks. I thought about using an old ac compressor. Is it quick to fill a tire?

Haven’t tried it yet. I plan on doing that soon. I’ve only owned the Jeep for about 4 weeks now. The PO says it’s fast. Ive started it and it was up to 80 psi in no time. He has a connection routed to the front and rear and a tank mounted underneath the Jeep. Overall it’s a nice setup. I have to think its faster then my portable I use in my JK.

What gasket did you go with? I used a FelPro when I changed mine in 2017.

same, Felpro. I actually bought it for my '99 and never got around to it, have had it in my toolbox and moved with it twice. I've been waiting for an opportunity when I was due for an oil change and had the time to do it. Not sure I really have any more time than I ever have but I finally got tired of adding to the filthy oil and dirt layer encapsulating the back end of the cylinder head.
