newbie advice.

Hey, just wondering if there's many members from the uk on here?? I'm looking to buy my first tj in the next few weeks, and use it for off roading and as a daily driver, but I'm wondering how you have got on finding parts over here and if there's been any problems with regards to finding support/help with mods. Any advice or info would be great. Iv found it quite hard finding anyone who specialises in jeep modifications over here.

I know of at least two other forum members from the UK on here: @Reign Mack and @Steve Mincher - They may be able to help with the parts / support / help in the UK. For advice and support on how and what to do, this is the place to be for the TJ. Ask and an answer will appear, usually followed by a discussion with more good information than you thought was possible. Welcome aboard, by the way!

Edited to add: A Jeep TJ is one of the last vehicles available, to my knowledge, that an owner can repair or modify on his own. This is especially true if you have any mechanical ability or have a willingness to learn. Advice is super abundant, and some of it is even good and reliable.

You're welcome. Oh man, if you like British sports cars (the older one's anyway) you'll love the TJ. TJ's are kind of like the wife's old MG Midget but with more ground clearance and four wheel drive. About the same to work on. Way more reliable as well. But driving it is the same kind of thing. You can't wait to put the top down and go places.

No problems getting parts over here, can import most things through places like quadtratec when they actually have stock (I have had things as large as 5 new wheels shipped over through Ebays world shipping program to things as small as a speedo gear through Amazon). There are a few places based in the UK and europe who sell TJ parts to. If you are getting a 4.0 check the road tax on models registered after 2001 because lot of the 4.0's will have £505 per year vehicle tax when they started charging by emissions instead of engine size.

Thanks reign mack. That's good then if parts aren't a problem over here!! And yeah I don't wanna be paying 505 a year. I wasn't sure why some were 295 per year and others were 505!!

Yeah I have a 51plate registered late december 2001. So its a 2002 model but if it was registered a week later the vehicle tax would have been 505 per year instead of 290.
