Hey everyone, I currently have a black hardtop and I’m hoping to paint it spice. I’ve read the other posts on here about painting the hardtop and have a good idea of the process.

I was hoping to get advice regarding the type of paint I’m planning to use. Would I be okay with using the following automotive paint with a Harbor Freight HVLP paint sprayer?

Most of the other posts on this forum recommend using a trim paint like SEM. Would I be better off using SEM Color Coat? I saw they offer a color similar to spice, 15173 Camel.

Appreciate any insight on which paint type would be best

I painted the interior of my hard top using black SEM. Quality paint to be sure.

Can't speak to prepping and painting the exterior. Thinking that painting the exterior would be akin to painting the fiberglass body of a Corvette, though certainly not high gloss. (I recently watched an episode of Motor Trend's Bitchin' Rides where they restored an old Vette, including the process of repainting it).

Ended up scuffing up the hardtop, spraying a coat of primer, and using SEM color coat Camel. Happy with how it came out
