I don't have any advice on that part. My 97 SE didn't have it.

But what do you mean about the "stop and fill, stop and fill" problem? If you mean that the pump is clicking out early, and if you still have the tank out, then there are are other things you should do before putting it back in.

Happy to share more, but let me know if I'm understanding you correctly.

Thanks for your time, and yes I still have the tank down, and the problem was clicking out early while trying to fill up...so what else should Ido to the tank before putting it up?

Would you mind PM-ing me? I’m on my phone and will surely forget the next time I’m at the computer.

What exactly broke? Sometimes those can be repaired with allot less hassle. Salvage yards will have the whole thing and you can find them on ebay.
Thanks for the suggestions. I've up loaded a picture at the beginning of this page of the broken part...here it is.

Those pictures are perfect, I don't think I could get anything to work with that much broken off. Sometimes you can sleeve the inside of those plastic fittings if there is enough left on the main section. Bummer.

Yeah not much material to work with, but a buddy of mine gave me some epoxy glue that he swears that he's used it on automotive applications with good results, I figured the line the attaches to the broken end goes to the vent on the filler neck so if the epoxy holds....if not I'll get my dimes and quarters from the coffee can and buy a replacement from one of the links that you and other folks have suggested, so I really appreciate the help that has come out of this forum. 😉

So for being 'clicked out' early at the pump, there are a few things worth checking while the tank is down.

The first is this thread, which may not apply to you since you have the '04. Not sure. It didn't apply to me and my 97.

After that, you might also check this post for other links about what worked for me.

Of course it could just be that you had a faulty sending unit, and that your tank was full when the gauge was reading less-than-full. That would explain getting clicked out 'early', even though it wasn't really early, if you know what I mean. If that's it, then replacing the fuel pump assembly, which I think you've already done, would do the trick.
