Comment 49, the OP changed up the topic, I think we have killed the Sport/X debate. No offense guys but let's stay on topic please, X vs. Sport is the title of this thread.
Okay, sorry I just came back.Comment 49, the OP changed up the topic, I think we have killed the Sport/X debate.
On the drum/disc brake debate. A TJ with the "Brake and Traction Group" included Traction Lock, 3.73 and 4 wheel disc brakes on the Dana 35.
They called it X because the other model was SE. You want some Jeep Sport,S,EX.The X was a marketing ploy to move the slow selling BASE model with zero options. And clear up some of the BASE parts in the warehouse. Nuthing wrong with that, the BASE Wrangler, ie X, is still a great all around toy.
In all honesty it was probably called to X because of AMC tradition. I believe the first "X" car was the AMC gremlin X, the X style package added a cool stripe to the AMC. The wrangler X added a stripe as wellThey called it X because the other model was SE. You want some Jeep Sport,S,EX.![]()
Nope, I have an 05 X with Drums, unless I’m missing out on part of the convo and the Sport only is in view. Then disregard. I have a Dana 44 now with discs, which makes brake jobs easier.Every TJ 03-06 had rear disk. Every TJ 97-02 has rear drum.
The only important advantage the Sport possibly has is a Dana 44. It was an option. If you’re planning to go beyond 35’s then there’s no advantage.I am looking into my first TJ purchase (again) and i am curious about any significant differences between the X and the Sport trim packages... especially considering the amount of mods and "playing" with stuff I have planned. Thx
Stock 04 rear axle here with drums.Nope, I have an 05 X with Drums, unless I’m missing out on part of the convo and the Sport only is in view. Then disregard. I have a Dana 44 now with discs, which makes brake jobs easier.![]()
You mean “moved on” as in died?!Most forums I've belonged to have a limit to how old of a post can been dragged back to life, some of the people who commented on this post aren't here anymore. Hope they just moved on.
They could be zombies, just like this zombie post. You mean “moved on” as in died?!![]()
Interesting. My '03 Sahara Dana 44 has rear disc brakes.Maybe I was not clear enough, Dana 44 with all disc brakes. X does not have Dana 44 on disc brakes.
My Sahara 2003 has rear drums.
My ‘06 (X) has rear drums. I plan to upgrade that as soon as I find a Dana 44 for the rear.Every TJ 03-06 had rear disk. Every TJ 97-02 has rear drum.
