Wife totaled her Jeep WK2 Hemi

There is a site online (I'll look to see if I have it saved in all my bookmarks) where you can put the VIN number in and it lists all the options, including the tow package. I had to enter all the ones I was looking at before I bought mine, since so many Hemi WK2s didn't come with tow package. The tow package includes rear load-leveling springs, the trailer wiring and module ($$$ to have dealer install and program it), the hitch and the heavier duty cooling.

This could not be more accurate. To make a long story endless, things were fishy from the get-go. Test drive of 2019 DD R/T with tow package 92,000mi surfaced several issues immediately. Safety belt ding would not go off, park sensor missing, CC didn’t work, broken taillight assembly, bad blemish no paint the size of two quarters, and the guy acted clueless. Asking $26,517 out the door. I got them to throw it to me for $18,500 out the door. 🤣 I was not comfortable with that one in any way. Felt it was a lemon.

Oddly they had another one exact same color 2020 DD R/T 37,000mi and wanted $37,058. No issues with this one. I thought at first it had tow package. Had him at $29,104 out the door and then went out and discovered no tow package (it was night so it’s not immediately obvious). I found a site where I entered the VIN to find the build sheet. Could not find tow package or auxiliary transmission cooler. Didn’t know to check for load leveling springs, but what I knew to look for was enough to let it go.

Got home at midnight. I just woke up a few minutes ago and read all your comments. Thank you!!! I was questioning myself all the way home whether I shouldn’t have just done it and added tow package myself. That would have been a $$$$ mistake.

I didn’t realize how niche these vehicles are. I can’t wait to argue with Progressive.

Y’all are amazing.

It doesn't say if it has the tow package, but did you see this one in Kennewick?

There's also this one in Puyallup, but it's quite a bit more expensive.

I'm going to Tacoma tomorrow and could run out to look at the one in Puyallup.

No, but I will run the VIN on the one in Puyallup and edit this post. Thank you!!!

EDIT: the rig in Puyallup DOES have the class IV towing package with HD Cooling. This is literally the only one I know about.

It really is a nightmare trying to find the right vehicle if you want one of these. My dad bought both of his Grand Cherokee V8s new, and even then the dealers were really trying to push the 3.6 version since there were so many of those around. I know there aren't exact numbers out there, but based on my search before finding mine, I'd say 20% or less of the WK2s came with the 5.7L, and only a percentage of those came with the tow package, which is odd because many 3.6L Grand Cherokees came with the tow package. You would think the larger engine would come with it standard.

I'm thinking that first Durango was in a wreck and not properly repaired, so you "dodged" a bullet.

I need to find the window sticker for ours. I'm pretty sure our 3.6 WK2 has the tow package. I think it was around 5200lbs or something like that?

They’re either 3500 (3.6), 6200 5.7), or 7200 (5.7 with class IV tow package). I’ve looked at enough in the last couple days to make a man crazy!

The 3.6L WK2 with towing package can tow 6200. The V8 is 7200. The 3.6L would've been fine for me realistically, but having driven both of my dad's Jeeps with the V8 I liked how it drove much better, and wanted the added capacity.

Correct, 3.6 without towing package is 3500. It's really weird how the ratings change based on the towing package or not, I assume for safety/warranty standards. My dad pulled 10k with his 2020 WK2 V8 with a full dump trailer. It was a short distance, but he isn't known to obey towing capacities. 😬 It did it fine, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Correction, thank you! 3.6L with tow package 6200! Really good!

I’m thinking my LJ plus trailer is knocking the 7200 door at 6800-7000lb.

Yes, just checked our window sticker and remember now that the tow package is standard on the Trailhawk. Google shows 6200lbs.

Jeremy you could maybe make that work, especially if you were conscious of the trailer's weight.

Would you like me to at least take a quick look and make sure it's not totally roached?

If so, message me your number and I'll text you some pictures.

That would be awesome, because I would fly over to buy it if it checks out. I trust you and you know what to look for. Even better since you have one!

Not sure I'll be able to drive it because I'm going to have my son with me and that would require switching the car seat over. That will kind of depend on the mood he's in (he's been up since 3:30 not feeling the best).

Looks like it's actually a pretty nice used dealer. I'm going to the dealer we bought our truck from first and I'll ask the salesman to see if they have anything. Titus-Will has like 8 dealerships.

NP. Any personal report is more than I’ll get from an online listing. You can tell if the place looks shady too.
