What is this part?

Can anyone tell me what this part is and where it goes?

It's part of the factory shift linkage setup for the transfer case, it holds the shift rod or shaft.

Here's what it looks like on my 2000. Oddly though yours has the hole in a different spot. Unless that bracket is for something else and I'm totally wrong. What year/engine/transfer case do you have?

There are at least 3 different bushing locations depending on which trans and t-case combo the rig has. Manual and auto are not the same and 231 and 241 are not the same.
