is it like the Novac shifter?Let's hope that is the problem.
Just get a Savvy cable kit and fix it right the first time...

lolThis x1000. Even if it's not there issue, do it anyways lol.
you do realize you were probably right dont ya? My bushings are gone and its ratteling like crazy. Ive got new bushings coming for now and then ill get the cable system from Savvy. when i get the new bushings on ill know for sure. thanksA lot of people identify the factory transfer case linkage as a problem maker. It is a ridiculous array of rods and levers, held together by bushings that inevitably disappear over the 14-23 year life of these vehicles. You may be able to test whether this linkage is the issue by holding the transfer case handle down during slower speeds. You may even feel the knock at your feet. If you do find this as the (or one of many) culprit, the most common fix is to replace the whole linkage assembly with a shifter cable.
I really do hope the noise is coming from the transfer case linkage rattling around due to the upper linkage not have a bushing in it.
It could also be the the ball side of the clutch fork rattling around in the bell housing if the small spring has broken off that holds the ball in place. Please let it be the linkage.

im right there with ya , going to try that tomorrow. Just had too many irons in the fire today. Why not either remove that rod or zip tie it so it can't move and take it for a drive?
