Cylinder 3 on my coil pack failed today causing miss fire, now im in need of a replacement... I was hoping to get my hands on a Mopar one bc you can't beat OEM.
however I now see that they are discontinued unfortunately...
now all I see are NGK and Fuelmiser ones and have no idea whether they are any good, they are quite cheap so it leads me to believe they're no good...

any ideas?

I've been running the Blue Streak by Standard Ign. on my 06 for about 2 yrs without issue. Available at RockAuto for a reasonable price.

NGK is probably OK, but I have no experience with them.

Stay away from cheap off/store brands.

Edit: Just noticed your location, no idea on what brands are available in your market.

I have the viper mod running a mopar 3.8 coil,(was on it when I got it) BUT if I was going to get a new rail I would order the msd from summit racing

NGK. I'll recommend approaching MSD with caution. I’ve seen a few bad ones new in the box over the last year or two. Maybe that was just bad luck. Maybe Holley is having QC issues.

I seem to recall that Hitachi was the OEM manufacturer.
HITACHI IGC0136 should be the the correct part. I'm not sure of the availability in your area.

Seems a little odd that cylinder #4 doesn't have the same issue since it shares the same coil as #3, they fire together. The coil rail firing pairs are cylinders 1 and 6, 5 and 2, 3 and 4.

Since it's a waste spark ignition system and cylinders 3 and 4 always fire together I can't wrap my head around you only have a misfire on cylinder 3. I think you need to look elsewhere... unless it's only a #3 boot issue.

That reminded me that it's entirely possible to reinstall the coil rail with one of the boots located off to the side of the spark plug causing that particular plug to misfire. That happened to me years ago.

Yeah, had a MSD on my YJ, made in China, blew in a short time just like the other Chinese coils.

No experience with the TJ MSD but I would be wary.

well I noticed misfire and assumed one of the plugs had gone bad. I haven’t replaced them since owning the vehicle and I’m sure the previous owner probably didn’t either. However I pulled the coil pack off and used the new spark plug and tested if all the coils had spark, and the coil for cylinder three wasn’t giving any spark. However, every other coil on the coil pack was giving sufficient spark.

Yea that's definitely easy to do. The easy way to avoid this is to check with your finger (you can feel that the boot is over the beginning of the plug).

OP, If you still need one I have a spare off of my 2001 XJ you can have for shipping. It worked fine when removed.

Just noticed you're in Australia. Might not be worth it but the offer stands.
