Hey all,

I know this topic is well-rehearsed on this forum, but I haven't found an answer to this particular version:

If I buy JK wheels for my TJ, and use a 1.25" spacer to adapt the 5x5 lug pattern to 5x4.5, then is it still true that 31" is the largest tire I should put on a stock TJ? I'm wondering if the 1.25" spacer will prevent the problem of rubbing at full-turn, and maybe I could go for 32s?

I'm mainly interested in the question of clearance, rubbing, etc. Not interested (at least in this thread) in the question of whether my 2.5L can handle the larger tires.

Go with nothing bigger than 31x10.50 with your unlifted Jeep. Unless you really want the tires to rub on the fenders every time you drive over a bump or dip in the road.

Here is a pic of my '03 Sahara with 31x10.5s on stock 15x8 Canyon wheels on the stock suspension. My current profile pic

is after installing H&R springs which gave me about a 1" lift over stock.
