Unswitched Power Source

I do and I could do that, but I wasn't sure what it and isn't ok to tap into I guess. Like I'm pretty sure brake lights work with the key off, but will it dim my brake

2, 3, or 4. I think 4 would be the best.

Except I don't have a fuse in 4 because I don't want to hear any chiming or have lights on when I open my doors 😔 I have a bad habit of leaving them open on the trail

I use my brake lights a lot when I'm driving what're you talking about 🤣 I suppose the LEDs probably take a tiny amount of amps.

Yeah I am hoping the red desert has external outlets I doubt I will bother removing it and putting it every night if it doesn't.

I will poke around in the fuse box tomorrow with my probe light and see if I can find anything, more confident tapping into something with its tiny amp draw

Just straight wire it, no reason to even join an existing line unless you don't want to have an aux fuse block anyway. My radios, sub, etc all are through a small auxiliary fuse block for the main power and only ever tap an existing circuit for the switching input on a relay.

You don’t need a fuse in 4 to connect your cooler.

Or straight wire it to the battery or the post in the PDC.

Then get some wire and install a 12v cigarette lighter receptacle somewhere convenient. Add a voltage monitor if you want. All at this link.

Most fridges shut down when battery voltage gets too low. My TJ doesn't properly charge my Optima Yellow Top because the charge voltage is too low. So as soon as my cheap Amazon fridge kicks in the battery drops to 11.7 and the fridge shuts down.

I bought a Jackery after watching @CMBD use his on the Rubicon.

It says 40-55watts, at 12v DC a random online calculator says that is a bit under 5a.

I can't do an ice cooler again after the meat fiasco. Plus this fridge one wasn't more expensive than a decent ice cooler

You have the drain plug come out with meat soup inside?

Dry ice makes a good cooling agent too with no water

I run one of the ARB wiring kits for my Dometic. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0742LV4JW?tag=wranglerorg-20

Wired straight to the battery, I've left it sit turned on in the jeep for a few days after a trip, never had it get to where the jeep won't start.

Eventually the fridge will shut itself off due to low voltage but it's easily a couple days later if I don't start the jeep.

The lockers on mine were tapped into a couple of fuses in the fuse box behind the glove box, they were constant power but I don't have a picture of which fuses were tapped. You can check around in there with a meter and find one to plug an add a circuit to.

The fog light fuse is 20a and unswitched. I don't have fogs right now and if I do get some ill get LEDs so I figured that was a good place to tap into. Thanks all
