There’s a vast array of aftermarket ignition parts and performance parts for small block chevys. Is there such a thing for our 4.0’s to keep them running into the future? Nothing to increase performance, just to keep them running good.

I’m not….yet. Ten years from now will cps, pcm, TPs, etc be available. It already hard to get mopar oem parts. I bought a mopar TPs for $80 while generic TPs was $15. The generic TPs I pulled off worked poorly and the oem works great.

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. The OEM parts are okay, but it is a Chrysler and they are far from good. If there is a demand for a particular item the market will fill the gap. Personally having been a technician for over a decade it's shocking to me how most folks replace parts that are not actually tested or bad. Take your TPS for example, I have never tested one that was actually bad in the field. I have never over the thousands of repaired vehicles replaced a TPS. Yet it seems to be one of the first items folks here replace. Just my $.002.

My tps read good with a Simpson 260. Very smooth transition from closed to wide open throttle, but it was very jerky driving down the road. The replacement smoothed out the drive. Only thing I can guess is the resistance from closed to open was a bit different ratio.
But I’m still curious if there is an alternate ignition system. The oil pressure and all the other gauges can be substituted for mechanical or electronic gauges, but is there an alternative ignition control system presently?

I've always thought it would be cool to put a Haltech on a Jeep 4.0. I could convert my 97 from cap and rotor to coil on plug. Haltech's computers can read some of our sensors and they have great support.

But if I look at the time involved on an unknown path then the sane choice is an LS or Cummins crate engine.

And honestly if I'm trying something new I'd rather pull the entire drivetrain, hook up two Netgain electric motors...you can get them with 1310 yokes...to the front and rear driveshaft and stuff junkyard batteries pulled from hybrids into the engine bay and where the fuel tank was. Each motor is 120 HP.
