I am still trying to fix my 2006 TJ passenger tilt/tumble seat cable. The one that goes from seat back under seat and twist the bar under to allow the seat to tumble forward. The cable housing broke years ago. The part number is 04886309AA, but no one carries it anymore. I will need a new cable and cable housing/sleeve. What have others done to fix it?

Dunno but let me know if you manage it. I’ve failed here in the UK. To be fair to them the local Jeep dealer parts guy tried very hard to find one for me.

I fixed one with a bike cable and aluminum crimp on stop once- can’t remember details though.

Problem is the bit on mine which is broken is the plastic C shaped bit (still intact in that photo at the top) not the cable

someone on here bought the correct size collar(7/8 i believe) for the rod under the seat and drilled and tapped it. put a bolt in said drilled and tapped hole. reach under seat a push on bolt to release the seat for fold and tumble. what i saw even had a pic. of this fix.

I tried to fix both cables with varying methods and one has held for 2 years. There was a good write up under “how to” but it still ended up with a ghetto repair. I ended up ordering a replacement cable for $125 😩. Hopefully it lasts, mine broke at the bend inside where you flip the switch up near the head rest.

I was just about to ask about this very thing, but did a search first and found this recent thread. @Tntitans21399 , any new developments? I'm still trying to figure out exactly where the problem is in my driver's seat. It won't "tumble" or even tilt forward at all. I could live with it forever if I had to, but not until I've exhausted every avenue. It would suck vigorously if the passenger seat broke too.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but you are aware that you can reach under the seat and push the lever to activate the fold and tumble mechanism, right? It’s not quite as convenient as the pull tab, but easier than fabbing cable repairs and removing seat covers.

No smartassery at all! Yep, I found that lever and operated it but the seat was still immobile.

There is still more groping around to be done. There's an answer here somewhere. I've heard there are '06 models like mine that have no tumble. But surely they at least tilt, right? And this seat doesn't feel like it's immobile by design, it feels like something's keeping it from moving. There is "give" in it.

Have you removed the seats and cover/cushions to inspect that there is nothing in the way to prevent the tilt or tumble?

Not yet. I was wondering how easy or hard that might be, but had not tried it yet. Any trick to it?

4 bolts, one torx bit, pretty simple but you may need to soak the bolts for a bit before tackling them. Removing the seat cover can sometimes cause new languages to be formed 😂

Best to just pull the whole seat right off the bat, then? That would suit me fine, there a lot of rusty parts up under there I'd like to do something about. Plus I could bring it inside the house and into the AC. It's still stupid hot here.

Where is this lever?
