Looking for feedback on the Tuffy Security Deck enclosure. I'm looking for something to hide what is in the back. Even with the windows tinted, you can still see the Packouts mounted in there. Just looking to keep an honest thief out.

If you know of a similar solution, that is better priced, post a link. I'm looking for something that is bolt in and will work with where my slide is currently mounted.

That still isn't effective.

I did find a Hooke Road version of the Tuffy that is 1/3 the cost. The problem, Hooke Road stuff is junk.

I looked at this for a while and then I just removed the read seat and put some plywood over the rear.

Diabolical Inc.
I've looked at that one as well.

I'd really like to see one of either installed. I'm trying to keep it as light as possible. I'd think either would be a lot lighter than plywood.

I did get to see this one in 2022 at the Winter 4x4. Its just powder coated sheet metal. Nothing fancy, but would likely keep your goods secured.

Plywood allowed for me to add some carpet for the dog and tie downs. Aluminum legs underneath. Probably lighter then the steel in the end. Just an idea. It's also flush with the tub.

Looks like it's mounted to the underside of the tub lip using the hard top anchor points... well done!
Everything I've seen thus far has had solid side supports, basically making it a box that slides into the tub.

I really like how this one is 'integrated', rather than it just fitting into the space.

I've had my eye on that for a long time. Just can't pull the trigger on the rear seat delete. In any event, all reviews I had read were positive. The only video review I had come across was by Eddie Ho from WayAlife, in a JL though.

I did come across some reviews of the Hooke Road version. Thin metal, missing hardware, rattles and general crap you'd expect from Hooke Road.

Those metal ones posted here are using up the limited square inches of space in the rear of the TJ. I wanted to keep as much space as possible under the "stage" that my miniature Schnauzers perform on for any drivers behind or beside us. I also never understood those rounded almost useless inner fenders unlike the nice flat shelves the CJs inner fenders were.

The only thing that holds mine in place is the upper tub lip.

I also wanted it to be fairly easy to install and to remove so I made a pivot point.

Here's the front. The short runway nose is there to stop the dogs from getting accidentally wedged between their stage and the center console. If it was any longer the console lid wouldn't stay up on its own. I will admit that I had planned on making some sort of front "wall" but 4-1/2 yrs later, that still hasn't been done.

I also have plans to reduce the max weight limit of the stage. The 1x4 framework seemed like a good idea at the time and will hold my weight+ but I'm too tall to get back there and I'd like to add as much height as possible (maybe 2" more, IDK) to the open space below it by trimming all that framework between the wheel wells that's not visible from the front and moving all three pivot points up a bit.

And here's the dogs looking for someone to impress

I like this a lot. An LJ was a requirement for me--my 105-lb lab has a nice spot behind the rear seat. I don't have cargo nets and I'm not planning to get them, so my "enclosure" will need to be easily removable so I can pull it out when he rides on the floor. Your solution is the best DIY one I've seen. I'll probably give it a whirl in the spring in between the other projects I've got going on.

Totally over engineered! I love it!!
I’ve had miniature Schnauzers all my life!

I can attest to the junkyness of Hooke...

I was gifted the Junke Road trunk "thing" last christmas, that thing was all beat to crap coming out of the foam packaging. It was missing many screws so I had to make a hardware run to ACE for a whopping $30 for the right crap.

After install it was super wobbly and would flop up and down making a loud bang, though it was meant for a hard top and I was using it with a soft top.

My main complaint with the damned thing is how useless the flip up feature was, it had two loosely connected metal L beams with a bold, flanged nylon spacer, and a nylock that slipped into a groove in the side plate. Worked great on level ground, but the moment you are on a simply incline, the damn thing would start to slip or go all cockeyed.

Other things are the fact that its only connected in two spots, the rear most hardtop bolt hole, you could easily just pry it up and knock it out of its place. The metal is worse than chinese pot metal, that crap would bend so easily by simply placing my spare tire on top of it (OEM canyon wheel with a 225/75R15 worn out road tire)

I eventually removed it and just put the rear seats back in as it was more usable that way and way more quiet when going down the road.

TLDR: Its a cheap POS that sounds like two Maxwell House coffee tins were having sex each time you ran over a pebble.

Here’s a couple pictures of the storage system I had on my last wrangler.

The platform was two pieces to fit in front and behind the rear roll bars and some tie downs in the center.

It’s just plywood, some sort of weather proof vinyl.

What model is that roof top rack you have? I like the way you have it attached to the rollbar. I want one but, don't want to do a full rack as i wouldn't need it all the time and the normal ones look like a pain to remove.
