Transfer case shifter linkage question - floating

Good evening,

Getting several issues fixed and putting this 2006 automatic TJ back together. I noticed this linkage is just floating in space.

We bought this a couple months ago and have been fixing the leaks. We had tested 4wd briefly and it had seemed to work fine. Does this simply need to have the pin placed into the hole above in the body bracket? Or is something missing that is retaining it.

Yes,the other end of the zbar should be in the bracket attached to the tub. The zbar should be horizontal. If the transmission skid has a spacer or the body has a lift then you'll need a drop bracket for the zbar. You might need to loosen the adjustment bolt and set it when you're done

Dump that morphodite contraption and replace it with a Savvy cable shifter. Best $146 you'll ever spend on your Jeep. A bit fiddly to get adjusted, but you'll only need to adjust it once.
