I fabed up some mounts for a steering damper. Plan A failed. so did plan B. and C. D and E sucked too. Finally plan F worked!
I tried attaching it to the drag link, then I tried the tie rod, I tried here, and there and everywhere. There just isn't room on this tiny axle. The problem is everything is full sized, on a mini sized scale. Eventually I came up with this. At full bump, the track bar mount will hit the damper **IF** I'm full driver turned. Its not impossible, but If I'm ever full bump and turned full driver, the damper will be dented.
So imagine jumping and landing hard while turned full driver. That would cause interference. And likely a roll over. A dented shock can will likely be the least of the worries.
So it will have to do.
I've designed it to accept a fox 2.0 SS also, just in case my walled starts to drag my pants down, I can upgrade.. Currently its using a JL steering damper. Modified of course.

Just a flex pic. The rear leaf springs are giving it hell and lifting the rear passenger tire off the ground. and the drivers side front disc is on the ground. its got more to give.

Boring stuff here, but very important details. I finished welding up the 100's of holes, I made little standoffs to bolt fuel lines and wiring harness to, The cargo hat channel was beyond saving so I fabbed up a new one. Seat mounts welded up underneath so I can bolt the seats in without a friend holding the nuts underneath (shush). Sand blasted the rest of everything. Cut out bad parts of the front hat channels and fixed. Created a hat channel under the driver seat where the gas tank used to be and finally welded in sleeves for all of the body mounts so I don't crush the hat channels when I bolt the body on. The oak inserts are cute, but I wanted something more ... steel. I left the oak in anyways. Call me nostalgic.
The body is still rough, but its solid now. No rust left and probably stronger than when if left the factory.

I've been working hard on the body, filling, sanding, welding. its far from perfect, but looks good. The color is Seymour Cummins Beige.

I had to create a battery tray, The only place left under the hood is tucked up against the firewall. Just enough room for a little series 35 battery.
I also put a little notch for the fuel lines in the rear crossmember
And a little notch for the upper radiator hose on the shock tower support. its obviously not fully welded in this picture. I didn't want to get the metal hot enough to warp the tube so It is getting welded slowly.
Also I finished welding the shock hoop gussets, the upper link mount, the lower link mounts... all the things there were hard to reach with the body still on. My checklist is getting pretty short before first start.
