Trade 'up' to a 2006 Rubicon?

If you are running trails where you're not crawling, but still using low range, but not going fast enough for high range, you won't like the rubicon in those situations because the 4:1 low range is so much slower.

I don't find it an issue with the 6 speed transmission. I'm sure with the auto it's would be different.

I have an 05 TJRU 6pd 2.5” lift on 32s. It does great on the local mountain forest roads although with the fires and recent rains they are in rough shape. There are spots where lockers come in handy but 98% of the time they aren’t needed. Here in SoCal a hard top is the way to go due to the heat and the crime. IMO the PCM and OPDA issues are overblown.

x2 on PCM and OPDA being overblown. You will have plenty of warning signs before they become a catastrophic issue.

My 05 TJR is set up just like yours. Most of the time I only have my rear locker engaged. I've not had any issues with the OPDA orPCM.

Owned a factory-ordered 2000 TJ Sport 5-speed for 20+ yrs until sold a few yrs ago with near immediate regrets. Within first year ownership, installed full Currie 4" suspension with upper/lower JJ control arms, 4.56 gears with ARB lockers and the usual bumpers and skids, then subsequently TeraLow 4:1 kit and BMB front brakes. I truly enjoyed that crawl ratio in combo with 33" tires, thus chose my current Rubicon 4+ months ago to achieve similar (yet without Tera's howling planetary gears), as well as Dana 44 axles, lockers, t-case and full disc brakes not available on earlier TJs. No regrets choosing a Rubicon but I would have preferred (then and now) manual vs 42RLE auto trans. But then, that's just me.

Regardless, I'm agreed with the apparent majority suggesting the OP keep what he currently has, being a low mileage nicely equipped example...

So, @AndyG gave you the WTJF discounted price? Was the windshield spotless? Did he supply you with a bottle of spotless window cleaner and a squeegee? ;)
