Hello All!

I just picked up a 2006 Jeep TJ Rubicon and it looks like I will be redoing all the suspension and steering, etc.

I'm looking for some recommendations for suspension in terms of if I should do a mild lift for 33" tires or even 32"...

The jeep looks to be sitting higher in the rear so I may do the full shot, springs, shocks, etc. I'm thinking at 155,000 miles, might be time for some new front springs anyway...any recommendations on type of springs or who might make good rubicion springs?

Jeep was in eastern at new, so it got pretty rusty...frame and body mounts are all pretty good but the suspension and surface rust is going to be addressed...daily driver restoration is my goal. Pretty rare color and options for 2006.

well do a search on here, most do a 4" suspension and 1.25 body lift, some want a tummy tuck, 100% of ride comfort is due to shock preference, I have the Rancho RS5000X and they are fine for me, others want a little stiffer ride go with bilstein, and Fox allows for adjustability in valving.

The Rubicon has the same suspension as any other TJ. The only difference you will encounter is that there is no slip yoke to eliminate if/when you add a double cardan rear driveshaft.

except for those red shocks, and the different part number springs in stock form...

Red shocks from the factory was a JK thing. Mine had black Mopar shocks when I got it.

There were no Rubicon specific springs. All TJs had a range of springs with varying rates based on how it was optioned from the factory to create the fairly consistent factory ride height that all TJs had when new.

None of that has any bearing on what suspension components he should be looking for.

Thanks for the info...I'll definitely check out the RSS5000x Ranchos!

This guy is doing very similar to you right now. Check out his parts list.

I have a feeling priorities may shift quickly, that rear quarter panel looks very rough.

This is TJ number 5 or 6 and the first cheap Rubicon I've found ... it's technically a 1/10 2006 Orange Rubicon...I've stripped these TJ's down to the frame and what I love about them is they are as easy as lego compared to a lot of stuff. The frame is pretty solid and in time, I'll sandblast and raptor the frame after a thorough cleaning and follow with some interior oiling...as well, the outside sheet metal is easy as I've got a few parts jeeps now for front fender replacement...they all rust out from that stupid underside panel that holds water and dirt against the fender panel.

Someone did me a favour and used some quick spray box liner across most of the thing...which made the price a good price...a week or so to weld in the rear quarter corner and some other panel repair (I end up always welding in new corners behind the fender flares and I'll be in bondo. This is just going to be a daily fun drive Jeep with AC so I'm not lookig for show quality..this is hitting thew mud to fish a few back lakes in a 12' tin boat! If people are interested, I can show the progress...should I start a new linK to do this? I think theres a project section?

I've got a rear corner I'm going to replace first...and I just bought all the front end stuff to get it back in shape except for springs/shocks. Another thing I love about jeeps...under $1000 to do all the front suspension and steering components!
