Hey all...I am looking for a bit of advice on tire size.

I have a 1999 TJ 4.0l and am installing a mild (2" lift) and will be replacing the current 30X9.5X15 tires with something slightly larger. My offroading will be limited to mostly ice fishing and fall hunting trips on forest roads and trails. I am considering the BFG AT KO2 in a 31 or 32" and my question has to do with width. I suspect that a 10.5" will have better traction for my type of driving than and 11.5" would. What are your opinions? Am I splitting hairs here or have you seen a noticeable difference in width?

Welcome!

It sounds like ground clearance isn't major issue for your needs so the added height isn't totally necessary. I don't think you will notice enough traction difference between the 10.5 and 11.5 to worry over it. One factor to consider is that on rougher roads, a larger sidewall provides greater cushion than less sidewall. Of course, that's assuming both are the same load range and run at the appropriate air pressure. Cost and overall appearance are probably your main decision points if you're decided on the KO2 (great snow AT choice). Both should have no issues fitting with a 2" lift.

If running stock 8” wheels 10.5’s usually fit without rubbing. With 11.5’s you will need spacers

You will find that the most common tire size for jeeps with a lift up 3” are 31x10.50.

It’s a great size tire, they don’t stick out to the side too much and fill the wheel well good.

I have a 2in lift and have them on mine. I love it

31x10.5r15 is your best friend at 2” lift.

Go with 31s for your 2" lift. More tire options also.

I bought a Jeep with 32s and a 2" lift. I'm not a fan of AT tires for my needs.

How does death wobble have anything to do with lift or tires?

any time you deviate from the vehicle's original center-of-gravity, some parts/components may need to be replaced or upgraded.
you may not have to deal with it at all, you may only have to only replace the steering shock. or you may end up having to add/replace things like an adjustable track bar, control arms, new tie rod ends,...
if you've never had to deal with it, consider yourself fortunate.

The same thing applies to stock Jeeps. Worn parts need to be replaced. 🤫
