My first post! I recently picked up a '99 TJ after selling my '93 renegade and '05 many years ago. I have a couple of questions regarding the battery.
The battery that came with the TJ isn't holding charge and I was wondering everyones thoughts on Costcos Kirkland Group 34 battery. The 48 month warranty is amazing.
I've watched a few videos on how to take out the old and install the new battery and it seems straight forward. Is there anything else I should know or do besides just replacing the battery?

There are only a few mfgrs that actually make batteries. There are a thousand labels slapped on them. I use Walmart because of their warranty. Whenever it dies take it back and they will give you a new one. I have only bought a new battery for each vehicle once, the rest have been free replacements. I have trolling motors that I put new batteries in in the late 90's, never bought replacements in all those years.

I think that the employees just don't give a crap and simply replace them without a care.

I have the Coscto batteries in all my five cars from F150, to tj's to Japanese cars. I've used their batteries for years. Never let me down.

Good thing about Costco batteries is they have a lot of turnover...sell a lot of batteries. So you should get a fresh one. Interstate makes most of theirs...at least in my area.

Costco doesn't carry AGM batteries...so if you do plan on offroading a bit the chemistry is a little better for that. I put an interstate AGM in my truck.

I put a Optima Yellow Top in my 97 and I need to either reprogram the PCM for a higher voltage charge rate or fake out the temperature sensor for the battery by adding resistors. Experimenting so no conclusions yet.

Yes there are better batteries. More expensive, more complicated. Costco works perfectly fine.

I appreciate everyone's reply! This will not be my daily driver and I don't hit the trails. I just want to make sure it starts in our winter's here in Canada.
