This afternoon I was driving home and my throttle stuck at 2,000 rpm and didn’t rise above that the previous owner had the same issue and advised I jus blip the throttle to make it return to now so I did and it returned to normal idle what may be the cause of the issue I hear it could be a vacuum leak ? My jeep is a 2000 4.0L sport with no cruise control

It's a cable throttle.

I'd pull it off the throttle body...it just unclips...and see if the cable is sticking or the throttle body.

A common cause of a sticky throttle is binding pivot pins for the valve body plate at the top of the throttle body. That plate is what the throttle cable opens and closes to allow more/less air into the engine. When that plate's pivot pins or its bushings in the throttle body wear they can cause it to bind. Apparently there are repair kits for the throttle body's valve plate pivot points but I've never seen one myself.

This guy has what I'd call a temporary fix but if there's no actual repair kit to replace the parts shown in this video it's either what he does or a replacement throttle body.

Mine was doing the same thing, before I tore the thing apart I lubed the cable/spring with some silicone spray and the shaft with a bit of kroll. Completely fixed my issue and it was happening every time I drove it.

Worth a shot before more invasive/expensive measures.

My issue started after I removed my throttle body and clean the heck out of it. It was getting progressively worse I think I removed every bit of lubricant and it was binding up just enough to cause the issue.
