So I have a 2006 LJ rubicon and while having some work done the idle would not always rev back down. We determined that there was a vacuum leak in the throttle body. When we dissembled it we discovered one side had some missing roller bearings making the shaft loose and destroying the shaft seals. Also made a groove in the shaft. We added o-rings and shifted the bearing accordingly however this is a temporary fix and I was hoping to find either a new oem throttle body or a service that would rebuild oem throttle bodies especially since this is a two year only model body. I’ve had no luck so plan C is to buy another used throttle body and worst case do the o rings on it. Any resource or guidance on this would be appreciated

My son's 2001 TJ 4.0 throttle body had a very grooved throttle shaft. I first purchased a remanufactured throttle body (Autoline) from Rock auto. It failed the smoke test - leaks from the throttle shaft at the cable end. Next, I installed a BBK performance throttle body (brand new made in USA). It also leaks at the throttle cable end of the throttle shaft.

I am not sure which brand I will be going with next. This is getting very frustrating. I am sorry that I don't have any answers for you.

Mine leaks from the shaft and I'm probably going to do the o-ring trick...that being said it's 27 years old and I wish there was a higher quality replacement available.

You might want to check out used at Davey's Jeep, Dead Jeep or eBay.
