Hi All,

As age creeps up on my wife and I I’ve been contemplating putting a set of the Rock-Slide Engineering automatic side steps on the LJ.

We don’t run the more challenging trails anymore and the Jeep stays inside the garage during our salted winters.

Looking for opinions and experiences with the company and the product.

Thanks in advance,

David

I have the non-motorized version and they're great.

Rock Slide is notorious for defects in their powder coating...mine came with a couple of blemishes... didn't care since they were headed for rock anyway.

Never been a fan of powder coating on anything for the Jeep.

Like to use Rustoleum satin black as it is much easier to touch up and keep looking fresh.

Thanks for the heads up.

All of the above comments match my experience, and I'll add that their after-purchase support is top tier. They make incremental advancements to their new steps, and the replacement parts I've ordered incorporates these same advancements. Very impressive.

Thanks for the input!

After seeing them in action on a JL and showing my wife, I’ll put these on the Jeep upgrades buy list….which continues to expand and never ends.😂

I have the step sliders for sale. Attached to my 2005 LJ. 15,000 miles. All yours for $30,000 or best offer.

That has to be the lowest mileage LJ I’ve heard of yet….and I’m guessing it’s rust free as well.

I think that a $30k price tag for steps might be a hard sell to the wife. Lol

I have them, with the extra armor, on my LJ, but I have no practical experience with them, yet. I am going to put some aluminum Savvy-like slider backers underneath them, though. The steps don’t cover wheel well to wheel well.

Thanks!!
Saw they had an optional armored cover and was thinking about that for a bit more insurance.

Still trying to build up some courage to add extra holes in this LJR as it is really clean.

Didn’t have any hesitation on my previous TJ LOL

That’s kinda what I’m thinking.
Not sure how reliable the motors are and how difficult to install.

I have then on my jeep and when they work they are very nice. The problem I have had is the steps are no longer retracting all the way. When this happens they can pack full of debris. I had to replace the passenger motor last year and waiting on a motor to replace the drivers side this year. They have been on for 4 or 5 years.
