I've been gone from the forum for a while, but I felt the need to share my positive experience with @Wranglerfix.
As a background, the following is what led me to send in my PCM for a diagnosis. I could've skipped the diagnosis step altogether given all the symptoms, but I just wanted to be sure.
I got a call from Mark the day after receiving the PCM and I got the (good?) news that my PCM was faulty. I was relieved since I didn't have to go chasing other problems. So I ordered the Wrangler Fix PCM and received it quickly, along with my old PCM. I barely got it installed today after having it for a week in the box. I still had that uneasy feeling at first, but after some long driving this morning, I have that confidence again in driving the LJ. Idling definitely smoothed out and the side mirrors aren't shaky. I am also looking forward to gas mileage going from "piss poor to bad"
Thank you Mark!
As a background, the following is what led me to send in my PCM for a diagnosis. I could've skipped the diagnosis step altogether given all the symptoms, but I just wanted to be sure.
The issue started with my LJ (2005 6 speed) one day randomly stalling on my way to work. It only stalled once in the morning. In the afternoon it stalled about 5 times in a 1 mile stretch. After the first couple of stalls and loss of gauges, I got codes for U0155 and P0155. Weirdly enough, I decided to turn off the stereo and it never stalled the rest of the way home (about 7 miles). The P0155 code never returned, but the day after I got a P0300 code, along with U0155. I want to say I also got a code for the crankshaft position sensor, but I’m not sure. I changed out the battery after the issues started popping up since the old battery was from 2017. That battery never let me down so I felt bad replacing it. I already suspected it could be a PCM issue, but since I had the parts in storage, I also replaced both the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. The grounds appeared to be good and I inspected the wiring I could see and did not find any shorts. The stalling persisted. After a couple of days of sitting, I started the LJ again and decided to tap the PCM while it was still cold. The engine revs changed initially and after some more taps, I was able to get it to stall. The codes were a hit or miss if they showed up, but the two constants were a loss of gauges and stalling after the engine warmed up.
