Basic tools like screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers, sockets etc are still basically all the same. Sure there some things they try to update but the basics are still the normal go to. I will say when I realized there were box end ratchet wrenches those things are cool!

not true for bicycles, even in the last decade, gear derailleurs have clutches now, wireless electronic gear shifters, not to mention hydraulic disk brakes, front and rear suspension, external bottom brackets, narrow and wide alternating tooth profiles, tubeless tires, synthetic fiber spokes, internal gear hubs, electronic throttle or pedal assist 2 wheel drive. ...the earliest bikes didnt have have drive trains nor pedals.
Something we all are familiar with, the u-joint. While it has been refined, the basic principle is the same.
