"3- Diesel oil does not contain more ZDDP than a gas oil. The diesel oil ZDDP thing was true for about two years, and this can easily be verified with a quick search. IIRC, the feds mandated ZDDP levels down below 900 ppm by 2008 for gas oils, and by 2010 for diesel oils. I might have my years off, but the end result is the same, engine oils for a diesel have the same ZDDP level as gas oils, but diesel oils are formulated different from gas engine oils, and that is important, so run them accordingly."

This is not true for oils 40W and higher. And the diesel oil still has more ZDDP. Any of these have decent ZDDP and are rated for gas engines. And they are easily found.
