Suspension Lubrication Frequency

I saw a video posted by a local jeep club promoting complete service of the undercarriage after EVERY off road outing.

I am a proponent of frequent service, but he was as thorough as the service to a race car, if anyone has ever been through that, which is basically putting a wrench on every bolt or not in the vehicle before every race day, changing fluids and greasing everything greasable.

Although I consider myself diligent, I see the complete going over after every outing to be overkill. I do use the grease gun thoroughly after having been in much or water, but otherwise I dont go over it after every outing.

What are others thoughts on this?

Mine is almost used exclusively offroad except for a periodic trip to the local burger joint. I grease mine maybe 1-2x per year. I will say, if you drive in salt at all, I'd up the interval.

Still on my original Johnny Joints too with no noticeable wear, FYI.

I’ve had my rig for 15 years or so with a break in ownership about halfway through. My Currie arms have been in about twelve years or so. I’ve tried to grease them a couple times through the zerks in that time since mine have the double zerks. I don’t know how much grease is in there but they don’t make any noise and seem to flex as intended. I half want to pull them off to service them but it seems like a pain in the ass without the tools to do it. Reading the JJ threads makes me wonder how they are doing in there…..

After fording, I go through everything. I check torque and torque to spec about once a year. I grease every spring--winter is hard on grease given the combo of cold and precip and the overly-salted Virginia roads.

Pretty much every time I wheel I at least crawl underneath to make sure nothing new is hanging, no bolts backing out, ECT.. . I've found more than a couple things before they could have become bigger problems. We have a fair amount of water crossing here depending on time of year, if I sink it I grease it
