I am in the process of trying to figure out what subs i want in my TJ. I have considered the console build out but i want more bass so i have been going down a rabbit hole of what size subs, how many, and what direction to face the subs. I already have amp installed and it just so happens i have a speaker box with 2 12" subs that I am going to play around with and position speaker box in multiple angles to see what type of sound i get. I will try with top on and top off. For my first experiment i think i will do forward facing and rear facing and report back. There seems to be so much discussion on this. The subs i have are a soundstream brand and they are probably 20 years old and have tears in the foam so not expecting greatness here, I am just trying to understand what position of the subs produces the best sound in various environments.

Stay tuned and if you can think of a test to run let me know and ill do it

You do know that bass is omni-directional, right?
That means you do not need to point it at the listener's ears for them to be able to hear it well, unlike highs that must be facing the listener for them to hear it.

Have an 8” kicker down firing. Still room to put stuff on top if need be. Won’t rattle the neighbors windows, but I think it sounds damn good.
