Hello everyone, new to the forum. I've got a 99 Wrangler sport with the 4.0 and 5 speed. Yesterday I decided to do something about the abysmal factory dash speakers and head unit, so I installed new speakers along with a JVC head unit. That all went well (or so I thought) until today when I went to go for a drive. I noticed my speedometer needle is resting in a completely different spot and is now blocked from moving by the trip meter reset button preventing me from seeing if it still works at all. All of my other gauges and odometer still work perfectly fine however. Any suggestions or ideas on how this happened? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is it something I can manually reset to the right position? Or its it an electrical problem? My guess would be electrical because I didn't touch the gauge cluster at all.

Easy fix. Disconnect a battery terminal. Turn the key on, but don't start.
Have someone watch the gauges and tap the terminal against the battery post, tap, tap, tap until the needles reset. Then turn the key off and re attach the battery.

20001 Wrangler Sahara 4.0 L, 3 speed auto, 231 Transfer. Speedometer is still 10 mph too fast. At stop , it's on 0, stopping after driving to a light, it's on 0. I have checked the speedometer housing at the five oclock position and the 34 tooth gear. It's correct and in very good condition. It is not a proportionate error, it is a constant 10 mph too fast vs actual speed. I have reset the gauges with the odometer button press method and tried the battery disconnect-tap,tap,tap method.
I am still 10 mph fast.
Help me Obe wan!
