Shock advice

Howdy. We just accidentally got a 97 tj and all 4 shocks are shot. Push down on the bumper and it is all spring. My first jeep experience, so this is a newbie question. I don't know what 31's, 33's, 35's means, can you help me? I do understand psi :). Thanks

I'd start a new thread.

Two ways to know...one, read the metric tire size off the side of the tire...like 215 or 235...and google how to convert metric tire size to inches...or two...grab a tape measure and measure from one side to the other...top to bottom or side by side.

Be aware not all tires are actually as marked...I have BFG 35s and they're just that. My wife has Mickey Thompson 35s and they measure out at 33.

Welcome to the forum! I'd make a new post for your questions.

Hey bud! I used to vacation in Rockport every year. I remember the damage the last hurricane (Ike?). It was devastating. We loved eating at Moon Dogs. Anyway, check your tire sidewall for the tire size. It will either be in metric or standard. Standard is inches. Metric is millimeters. Of course, you can convert by using a calculator. A lot of us use standard size tires that measure in inches.

Check your driver door jamb for the stock size. You can go bigger as you add lift.

Howdy,
The last big one was Harvey. We were blessed with our place but many weren't. The community has pretty much recovered and is growing. Moon Dogs is still there on Fulton Harbor.

Thanks for the advice. We inherited this old Jeep with our place in Ozark, AR. Two miles of hilly, rutted dirt road to get to the house. The tj needs shocks and a top kit but it runs well. We think it will be fun.

Howdy,

The new TJ should be fun. Nothing like driving topless in good weather. Get a Spidershade or Alien Shade for summers and it makes everyday just right.

Skyjacker Black Max shocks should help on that 2 mile rutted road.

Can anyone give advice on how to accidentally get a Jeep? I'd like to teach my wife, she said no the last time I tried.
