I've finally put some miles on my TJ after getting the new axles installed. The axles have 4.88 gears. The shift light in 5th gear is on and off while cruising. Is there a way to tell the ECM that it doesn't need to shift again? Would a hard reset on the ECM correct this?

Did you correct the speedo? Personally I’d just remove the bulb, but I wanna say the light functions properly based off of the speedo being accurate. I think it uses speed and rpm to figure out what gear you’re in, and the speedo gear being inaccurate will screw that up.

Pull the bulb out
I thought about that, but would rather it work propoer before doing that.

I did correct the speedo with a 41 tooth gear. The speedo is dead on with the GPS speed. If possible, I'd like to not pull the bulb and have it work properly.

Isn't the shift light a function of vacuum?

I'd check live ODB data and see what your PCM thinks vacuum is when the light pops on.

Not sure if that is the case or not. I do know that since the regear I do have more vacuum consistently.

I don't use it, it's more an annoyance than anything. Probably going to pull the bulb out today.

Just do like everybody else and black tape it.

I liked the “what’s the little house on my dash “ question we had once.

Agreed! Never look at that light again! It’s utterly useless! I keep meaning to pull the bulb, but I’ve ignored it so long I don’t even notice it anymore.
