I have 2006 LJR which I bought used from a one time owner who took great care of it. It has 122,000 miles on it. During the summer it would run a little hot with the AC on, or going up a grade, at long idle etc. Earlier this year I finally replaced a lot of the cooling system as preventive maintenance.

1. Mopar water pump.
2. Mopar T-stat
3. All new hoses
4. Mopar temp sending unit.
5. Hayden HD Clutch Fan
6. Completely flushed the system, including the block.

It doesn’t seem like it has been as hot this summer but I am very happy with the results. One day up grade with the AC on in 90+ weather the temp stayed under 212. When at Idle for a long time it has reached 220 a couple of times. The one exception is we had been off-roading and it came time to air up. I hit the compressor switch (a York setup) and people were in the Jeep so I left the AC on. By the time I aired up my tires and the wife’s tires I opened the door and saw the temp at 242! That was the only time it got hot. I guess essentially with the York on I guess that equals running two AC units in hot weather. I definitely will be keeping an eye on that if I have the same situation again.

Overall been very happy with the results. I am not sure if it’s in my head or not, but it does seem like little more drag with the Hayden HD fan clutch.

You have covered almost all the cooling system problem areas that Jeeps can experience although there is one area many Jeep owners forget.
Inspect the open areas between the cooling fins for the A/C condensor, radiator and the open area between both of these.
IF you off road in muddy water the areas where air passes can slowly get obstructed causing a decreased cooling for both the A/C and engine cooling systems.
To test for this problem; shine a bright light thru from inside the engine compartment and check for blockages.
You can also unbolt the condensor from the radiator and move the condensor a little to inspect the area in between.
