Sea Foam thoughts?

I used it easier this year in a failed attempt to get my Jeep to pass smog. No fault to the product though it was my gutted cat that was the problem.

I was chatting with the smog tech about trying to use sea foam and she did have good things to say about it. This is a very old experienced smog tech BTW.

Also good for finding exhaust leaks and cleaning your intake. Start up the Jeep, pull the big hose off the brake booster and dip it in the can... adjust the throttle to keep it running. Observe smoke.

it's best to let it stall. then sit overnight and take it for a ride in the morning.

I've used Sea Foam for years. It works well in the fuel system and intake tract, but it evaporates at a relatively low temp, like 150-160 F, so If you want to pour it in your crankcase, it won't be there long.

Yes, works great for cleaning carbs etc. So as a test I threw a few dirty M/C main & pilot jets into a glass bottle with 2 inch's of S/F in it. Been a couple years now and they look the same as they did when I dropped them in. IMO its Snake oil like 99.9% of the rest of the "mechanic in a can" additives. Naptha and light oil is all it is.

I add it to my crankcase about 400 miles before it's due to be changed.

I have done that before to address what I thought was a gummed-up lifter, and it worked. I've also used it to clean out a ticking injector in-car. The problem with it in the crankcase is with its low evap point, it is gone after the first full heat cycle. I learned that via Lake Speed Jr and Blackstone Labs.

I've seen some positive results with both the Intake Cleaner and the Fuel tank additive.

It makes a real difference as a fuel additive for my old 2 stroke outboard motor. And I've had good luck with it for 2 and 4 stroke mowers and power tools. But I haven't seen any noticeable benefit in my trucks or Jeep.

I experienced the same thing. Snake oil, just like all that came before it.
