Sad story post

This might be a good thread to mention deterrents. At $259-$279 the Disklok isn't cheap but will look cheaper compared to a vehicle loss. I have one that fits my Superduty or my Jeep and use it if I have to park somewhere overnight other than my locked garage or back yard, like at a hotel: https://disklokusa.com/ It is a bit cumbersome and if I'm just at the store or a short stop somewhere I still use a regular steering wheel club.

Second, I installed a hidden momentary switch with a relay and unless you press the hidden switch after turning on the key it won't start. You can also use a reed switch and a magnet.

Third, I installed an alarm for the doors and hood.

The more layers you have the better. Of course nothing will stop a determined thief with a rollback.

I don't think that's the link you were trying to post....

I had an ‘87 Buick GN stolen from a Walmart parking lot in broad daylight. My wife walked out of the store and wandered the parking lot for a few minutes, thinking she just forgot where she parked.

Detectives found the carcass a couple days later, stripped of every removable sellable part.
Damn! Your wife was tough on that thief. (y)

I will admit to finding it hard to maintain a Christian attitude towards someone who would do this. I applaud anyone who can dismiss the violation with ease. I think, however, that most of us would like a few minutes alone with the thieves...:cautious:
Yeah, it’s not easy. I cursed people and thought about how it would be nice if some tents burnt down.

Sorry it happened to you, too 🙏🏼

Philosophical question… which is worse, auto theft by drug-addled losers, or slick professionals? I had an ‘87 Buick GN stolen from a Walmart parking lot in broad daylight. My wife walked out of the store and wandered the parking lot for a few minutes, thinking she just forgot where she parked.

It was full insured, and we got back a big chunk of what we paid for it, but it still pisses me off a little 38 years later

Well I’m a Buick lover we have an original ‘70 GSX in the family and we had one of those Grand Nationals- bad v6 right there.

At the end of the day anyway you look at it it is sickening- People do not have the right to take from other people.

It is wrong.

It is dealt with so harshly in some cultures.

I wish I knew the answer and more than that I just wish it didn’t happen.

You and me both. I did just get some news that they might have some suspects and some pictures they can run. Maybe not all hope is lost

These days sooo much is on camera to. Chin up.

Every time somebody pees on my fire I’ll go get more matches and gasoline.

I just had somebody that I considered a lifetime friend cost me $40,000 and walk away from the entire situation. I would’ve felt better if he stole it.

I loaned $20,000 to somebody in the same business that I’m in and now they are struggling to pay it back-

It’ll all work out in the long run in the meantime I jumped back in the ring and kept swinging.

And I’m not telling you you need to like it. Just don’t let it make you think you can’t ever have anything. Don’t give up trying. Don’t let the bad people win.

When you get that info let me know what you find out, it's a small little community in a big place, all of the theft/recoveries we have dealt with have been people that we know or that have been around.

Again I'm sorry but maybe something will turn up.

LG

Curious on the general details when you can share some. Is it OK?

Yeah it appears to be mostly fine. Ignition was pretty torn up, they were starting it with a screwdriver. Very muddy, and something seems odd with the third brake light. But the officer was able to start it and drive it up out of the mud to the road. They're still working on recovering the trailer from the mud so i havent laid eyes on anything yet

Very, very happy for you, my friend! It's as close to a happy ending as you could reasonably hope for, in my opinion. (y)

You're doing it wrong, Boogie! I'm coming up on 32 years married to my only wife, and I wouldn't trade her in no matter what. The woman "gets me" and is a saint for putting up with me all these years!

Wait a minute we can't be married to the same woman??? 35yrs for us in 3 months
