Sad story post

True at times, but at least in my area, it's desperation combined with addiction. After being around some of the homeless here, I realize that its not personal, they see something of value that can help them get to their next fix, and you and how you got that nice thing of value aren't even crossing their mind. I learned to not personalize it as much, and to understand that it's all just metal and plastic that can be replaced. I began to treat it like I was being tested by the universe, which helped get out of the victim mentality.

So you’re saying that you’re the bad guy for having things and the homeless addict thief is justified in robbing you and exempt from all personal responsibility and accountability and that you, being robbed, are not the victim.

What an astoundingly bass-ackwards distortion of reality. Let me guess, Portland?

The homeless in my area are much more honest. My favorite sign was " PLEASE HELP! I'm too ugly to be a prostitute." This was a close second.
p.s. I never give them money because they dress better than me.

Living embodiment of this bullshit from a few years ago. SMH

Kinda seems like its just a way to accept it personally. Like i know they werent doing it to me specifically, even though i have been wronged. I can replace it, they'll have to deal with their actions at the end of it all. I'm definitly a victim of a crime and the guy that took it is a POS but like i see why people do scummy things. Theyre everywhere unfortunately

I am a spiritual man that believes everything happens for a reason. I choose to ask why? What is the lesson in this? Instead of being overwhelmed in victimhood.

*Edit: It is difficult, and I am not self-condemning or dismissive of these things, as suggested by some subversive posts in this thread.

This is also why i posted here. You guys are great

If you get it back or get another one, make sure you put an angry grill on it to stop potential thieves. ;)

I felt the same way about Biden. ;) 🇺🇸

I believe he was simply sharing his method of coping so his remaining time on earth wouldn’t be filled with rage and hate. We all have our own way even if it’s not logical.

While visiting SD for a summer internship years ago, thieves smashed a window and stole many things from my locked truck, including tools my dad gifted to me. He had those tools for 30+ years at the factory and his name was etched into them. As a nice F u, they keyed the entire side of my truck.

It was impossible for me to justify their actions, and I felt awful because I lost something that connected me to someone I love. Theft is one of the most personal and disrespectful non-contact crimes I can think of.

It took a while, but time eventually took the edge off.

Very true. For years I dealt with having the soft-top cut open. I learned quick to leave nothing inside, but it it still brings a person down when walking up to your rig and there is a fresh slice in the top (it has zippers, come on), or a side window is laying on the ground, and the glove box and console are wide open.

It sucks. I have compassion for anyone going through it.

Sorry for the loss. I hope you get it back, and if not, you get something even better 🙏

Most everything gets down to how we perceive and respond.

Here we are in the most wealth mankind has ever seen- And we still see that the human condition can be just so sad.

At the same time I don’t have unlimited sympathy because a lot of homelessness is created by a spirit and attitude that says “nobody is going to tell me what to do”...

I'm currently waiting on parts for both of my Dodge Cummins trucks. About seven days ago, thieves decided that they wanted both of my trucks more than I did, so they destroyed the door locks (damaging the sheet metal surrounding them), and proceeded to obliterate the ignition on the '90, while only breaking the ignition on the '89 dually (maybe they got spooked before going any further). They took nothing, so I can only assume that they were actually after the rigs, themselves.

I'm a praying man, and I thoroughly believe that these kinds of challenges ultimately develop into blessings of some kind. It's not something I was taught, per se, but something I've come to believe through personal experience. For now, I can't quite imagine what positive thing could come of the destruction of my property, but I'll ride it out and see. In the meantime, I will admit to finding it hard to maintain a Christian attitude towards someone who would do this. I applaud anyone who can dismiss the violation with ease. I think, however, that most of us would like a few minutes alone with the thieves...:cautious:

Maybe it’s good that the 10 Bitcoin I helped my dad get (at $100 each) was stolen…because not having money allows him to work at Ace hardware to get away from his wife.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

My dad lives in Tucson. Maybe you two should get together for a beer. He'd enjoy your sense of humor!

Philosophical question… which is worse, auto theft by drug-addled losers, or slick professionals? I had an ‘87 Buick GN stolen from a Walmart parking lot in broad daylight. My wife walked out of the store and wandered the parking lot for a few minutes, thinking she just forgot where she parked.

Detectives found the carcass a couple days later, stripped of every removable sellable part.

It was full insured, and we got back a big chunk of what we paid for it, but it still pisses me off a little 38 years later

Sorry to say that I find it hard to forgive thieves... when I was about 12 yrs old (72 now) on Halloween 2 friends & I were robbed of our full pillow sacks of candy. Every Halloween I remember that dastardly deed and wish them obesity, diabetes & rotting teeth. But every once in awhile, like now, I realize that they probably saved me from that fate.

Ive been pondering this. People who took it covered their heads and faces, showed up in a truck with plates removed, cut the gate and reclosed it to avoid it being noticed. All seems pretty thought out. But then it was done in an old champagne colored silverado with two distinct noticeable dents in the bed.

Craziest part of the story is they took mine at 6:30 PM, came back to the storage place at 7 the next morning and took an RV. Definitely bold as hell if nothing else.

So I guess if it was a loser who took it, it may get dumped after a joy ride or they try to sell of facebook or something. If it was pros its already been dismantled.

Funny too it was a real frankenstein of a jeep. Front frame horns a little bend, left front fender messed up, 03 engine in a 97 body, no AC parts. There was a lot going on with that little jeep lol

The good thing is that it was all Candy Corn. Consider yourself blessed!!! ;)
