Sad story over here. No question just venting.

Got a call yesterday evening that my trailer and jeep were stolen. Thieves cut the gate, broke the hitch lock and drove right off. Police report filed, I've pretty much accepted I'll never get her back.

I'm sure ill get another one some day but it was my first grown up project for just me and it sucks.

Thanks for listening, just need to tell people who get how it feels to lose a 28 year old car.

Ouch. DFW metropolitan hellhole charm strikes again. Hopefully you find an even better one to replace it!

No theft insurance sadly. It was bought with a salvage title with the intent to replace and build up parts on it, which i did. So i always figured comprehensive wouldn't actually cover value. Will never know now i guess
I have taken some relief in the fact that i learned so much through the build process. What i liked, what i didnt etc. Still sure sucks though

Sorry to hear that. I friggin hate thieves!
It's a long shot but if you have any pictures post them. I'm always scanning for parts and if I saw something I'd let you know.

I had 2 stolen from a repair shop garage when they were in for service. Eventually got them back but not before they blew up an engine with 1,200 miles and the other they used to jump curbs.

Theives suck.

Edit: these were not jeeps but go fast cars.

Sorry man. :(

Someone stole my uncle's Suburban, car trailer, tools, and pristine SS Nova from the Norwalk Raceway.

The police eventually found the Suburban and trailer at a gas station, but his $40k+ in tools and his car were gone. He found the bumper and doors at a swap meet in Cleveland sometime later. He's unmarried and has no kids, so this one hit him hard bc that car was his baby. Lost his dad a week later and his mom two months later. It was a rough year for the poor guy.

Keep your head up man. You'll recover from this.

Had our '96 XJ 2-door stolen from in front of our house a few years back. Fortunately, it was recovered later that evening. It seems that they abandoned it after the starter had gone out in it, as evidenced by the large pipe near the rig that had been used to beat on the starter in an attempt to get it to turn over. Some damage to the vehicle, but repairable. While cleaning it out, I found a store receipt from that same day. Store name, address, and time all on the receipt. The store's security cameras recorded the thieves, and they were busted. Point is, no matter how unlikely, there is still some hope that you may get it back. I certainly hope that's the case.

Don't give up hope, If it was a local kids it could show up. If it was someone eyeing it for its parts you may never see it. Lets hope it shows up soon.

You know there is something about theft- it hurts. You feel violated. Disrespect. It is just one of the worst feelings.

There is an arrogance that goes with thievery.

I really don’t know I have the ability to articulate it well enough.

Just don’t let it make you any less of a person. Hate is just drinking poison hoping it kills somebody else.

Thanks for cheering us up.

Very true. For years I dealt with having the soft-top cut open. I learned quick to leave nothing inside, but it it still brings a person down when walking up to your rig and there is a fresh slice in the top (it has zippers, come on), or a side window is laying on the ground, and the glove box and console are wide open.

It sucks. I have compassion for anyone going through it.

True at times, but at least in my area, it's desperation combined with addiction. After being around some of the homeless here, I realize that its not personal, they see something of value that can help them get to their next fix, and you and how you got that nice thing of value aren't even crossing their mind. I learned to not personalize it as much, and to understand that it's all just metal and plastic that can be replaced. I began to treat it like I was being tested by the universe, which helped get out of the victim mentality.

Sorry for the loss. I hope you get it back, and if not, you get something even better 🙏
