Seriously! There is a design flaw in the 214 that will cause it to explode. This particular item was covered on an show of Extreme 4x4.
When I was talking to the Advanced Adapter guys they confirmed this problem. In one case a member of ROFs daughter was driving the vehicle when the front of her case blew up.
There is an oil pick up tube internal to the 241 that has been know to come off inside. When it does a set of bearings are no longer oiled.
On the ROF forum I know of two others to which this has happened! Mine was a catastrophic explosions while being flat towed behind our motorhome somewhere between Missouri and Alabama. When we pulled into the RV park my wife asked me what was hanging down from the Jeep. I looked and it was a vent line. I look some more and there was NO
Transfer Case present. None! The front planetary gear was hanging onto the tranny. In short the TC froze up and exploded. It took out the pinion yoke on both diffs. Smashed the locker air pumps to pulp. Punched some huge holes THRU the floor board and dumped both of my new Tom Wood drives shafts somewhere on the freeway. I did not feel a thing in the coach. So for a bit more than 3,000 miles I had a 4880 pound bike rack behind the coach. $5,000 to fix it all.
This is why I now have an Atlas in mine.
Just a tiny bit of FYI. If I ever have another one I will pull that case apart and stake that damn oil line!
