G’day. For those of you who do overlanding, or have a rooftop tent. Where does one get such? And can it mount to the stock hard top?

Also, I saw a hammock on Quadratech that goes between the roll bars for a topless Jeep. I thought that was cool, but I guess my question is, can I reliably put my 150lbs on there? The bars are meant to support the weight of the whole Jeep upside down right?

Would be cool to drive somewhere and be able to chill on top of my TJ.

I’ve strung hammocks from my roll bars to a tree camping in a few times. The roll bar I have full trust in more weight than I can put on it. The hard top I do not unless the mounts when through and we’re really supported by the cage. Rtt id get an external rack.

Personally, there are so many lightweight, compact, quick to pitch tent choices these days it just doesn’t seem worth it to have the bulk and weight of a roof top tent. That is merely my taste and opinion, trying to give the OP something to think about. No good guys or bad guys in this, just varying opinions.

This is a good point. But where I’d be taking my Jeep, it’s likely to get muddy. Which ever route I go. I’m probably going to start with a ground tent, cause like you said. Top heavy on a top heavy vehicle.
