They would if they wanted it to drive better.
Although, the 6 speed is not as bad as the automatic.

Your issue is driveline related.
You may have a failed transmission mount, a drive shaft out of phase, a loose pinion nut or rear end about to grenade.
The puking diff means heat most likely, if not overfilled or expanding water.
At this point, I would probably pull the rear shift and run it in four-wheel-drive and see what happens- and be ready to go into the rear end.
