Hey, folks, hope all is well. First time poster and a new owner of a 2005 LJ. Looking forward to the mindshare here.
I've searched the forum ad nauseam but I have yet to find an "electrical/lighting" situation like the one I have on my hands, so I am hopeful making yet another post about faulty lights is permissible and I can get some guidance and not flamed. Thanks in advance for your time and opinions..
Last night as I was driving home when I turned on my Right blinker it started to flash incredibly fast--so when I got home I checked the bulbs on the Right side of the vehicle and noticed that the Right side marker bulb was fried. This morning I went up to the local store and picked up some new bulbs, installed them on both sides, but I still had the super fast Right turn signal flash when activated. So I headed to the back of the vehicle and noticed that the Right rear light wasn't blinking at all. Went back to the store, got some new lights, installed them on both sides. When I tested the turn signal again I got nothing on the right side. However, when I turned my lights on...the Right rear light came on, but still wouldn't flash. The other unkown in the equation is that the Right rear light does not work (brighten up) when the brake pedal is applied. The Left light works, the center brake light that is barely visible over the spare tire works, but the Right light doesn't work. These are all standard bulbs....no LEDs (yet). In sum, this is how it breaks down...
Accessory Power On
Left Turn Signal Activated:
All Left Turn Signals work properly and the the Turn Signal Indicator blinks at the normal cadence
Right Turn Signal Activate:
Front Right Turn Signals work properly though they flash at a much higher cadence, Rear Turn Signal does NOT work
Brake Pedal Depressed:
Left Brake Light works properly
Center Brake Light works properly
Right Brake Light does NOT work properly
Gear in Reverse:
Left Reverse Light Works Properly
Right Reverse Light Works Properly
Lights Turned ON (while in Acc Mode):
Left Rear Light Works Properly
Right Rear Light Works Properly
Hazards Activated:
All Left Side Lights Work Properly
Front Right Lights Work Properly, Right Rear Light does NOT flash.
Any idea what is going on here or where I should start the troubleshooting? All bulbs are new and this just started happening (decent amount of rainfall this past week) last night. I've got probably 400 miles under my belt without issue. Really appreciate the help....I know this is like shooting fish in a barrel, but hopefully by looking at the break down of when it does and doesn't work I can eliminate at least a few things. Thanks!
