Howdy Team,

Recently I've given my now 25 year old TJ a bit of a birthday across the front end .. trying to achieve some more tightness and push back the death wobbles another few years. That included new tie rod ends, ball joints, and a new panhard (since one end isn't serviceable). Through this work I discovered my tie rod was able to be spun by hand.. and the tie rod clamps were already tightened as much as they will go. There was also some looseness in that I could grab the tie rod and feel a little play in each end of the tierod where the ends thread in.

So I did the sensible thing and ordered an upgraded replacement tierod, I've been running 33's for more than 20 years .. so I'd assumed that I'd just flogged the rod out. Stupidly thought australia suppliers would only supply australian gear .. but guess not since they are just drop shipping from <insert american site here>. Any who I'm now the proud owner of a 44inch HD tie rod .. which is about 10 inches too long for a RHD application.

My question is : is there a world in which this thing could be useful ? e.g. some type of steering upgrade / mod that would use it ? or do I have a nice wall display.

For the moment I've slid some beer can inside the existing factory tie rod clamps and that seems to have gotten rid of the play... but being aluminum I'm more than aware that it's temporary at best.

Any suggestions welcomed :)

Cheers
