Greetings,

First time poster, but I have been following this form for years. I have a 2006 Jeep TJ 4.0 with the NSG370 6speed.

Long story short, I purchased a new battery from a local auto parts store and the guy behind the counter said "It's not identical to your current battery but it will work." The battery was the same size, shape, CCA, etc, the difference was the terminals were reversed, however he didn't mention that. Me being in a rush didn't even think to look, because it dropped right in and I hooked it backwards. It was only on there for a few seconds. However, I ended up with lots of sparks and smoke!!!! I was probably lucky I didn't catch my Jeep on fire. The cable that connects the battery to the fuse box complete failed/melted but no fuses were popped.

Now the jeep will not start or crank, and I do not have any check engine lights. I am getting a buzzing noise from my ASD relay when I turn the key to accessory, and my stater is making a really horrible grinding noise when I attempt to turn it over. I have replaced everything I can think of and now I am reaching out to all of you for ideas. Unfortunately, when it comes to troubleshooting this problem, I am not much of an electrician.

Thing I have replaced so far:
-Battery cables from BatteryCables.com
-New PCM from WranglerFix
-New starter
-New Crank position sensor
-New Camshaft position sensor
-Checked all of the relays and fuses
-I removed the fuse box from under the hood, none of the wires under the relays look or smell burnt.

Let me know if you guys have any additional thoughts on what I should be looking for moving forward.

Thank you in advance.

Pull every fuse and check them all. And like above plug in a scanner to make sure your deck isnt fried. Don't matter if you have codes or not check it
