Replaced TPS, bad idling, reset battery, now wont start

@Chris why don't you consolidate this into @jayeljeep 's other thread.

Sorry @Chris, I’m a little trigger happy with my posts. This idling thing is driving me insane.

^ checked vacuum leaks with brake cleaner. nothing. then I filled the tank and went for a 45 min drive through town and purrs like a kitten. what gives?

It might indicate that there was an issue with the fuel delivery or something related to the fuel system. Low fuel levels can sometimes cause the fuel pump to suck in air or sediment that can disrupt proper operation. It's possible that your fuel gauge is reading incorrectly and the fuel is much lower than it's reading.

Since it ran well after the drive, monitor it for a while. If the issues return, you may want to double-check the fuel pressure again when idling and possibly look into the fuel filter or pump next. Keep us posted on how it goes!

I'm not sure that brake cleaner works to check for vacuum leaks on a modern fuel injected engine. I think the PCM just adjusts the fuel trims.

I'd suggest a smoke test.

@Chris @macleanflood @JKP @hear So far so good. idles at 700, great throttle response. Will keep monitoring. Thanks gents for the advice and guidance. I never really got into the “engine” on any of my cars. Trying to figure out all the craziness with my wife’s Audi, actually made me finally settle on getting another Jeep. I’m learning and thanks to you guys Im not intimidated anymore. Much mahalos. you guys saved me alot of money

2 things aren't clear:

(a) what I did to deserve any credit here
(b) what you did to get you to a "so far so good" state

@hear, you get credit for commenting. Im doing everything anyone on here says. And I’m not sure what I did you get to “so far so good” just reset icu, checked alternator and battery. And filled the gas tank to full. Now it’s running fine. Nest thing to tackle is something called a throw out bearing. Got weird noise happening when idling in neutral. Hang tight gents, I’m gonna be bugging you with annoying questions.

What does it sound like? A throwout bearing usually makes noise when you depress the clutch pedal, not when idling in N.

when I let go of the clutch in neutral, sounds like a low whirry, slight metal grazing metal noise.
BTW, the idle is great and way more responsive throttle

hello gents. Happy new year to you all. Im back with some idling problems. took her on a 1hr driven the freeway at half tank. (mentioning gas level as, I was low one time and she was all over the place with idling. full tank then it was fine- I replaced the TPS earlier on this thread) drove fine with tons of throttle response and power then got to about 1/4 tank and the idle dipped. filled her up to about 3/4 tank. drove fine with a few little dips in idle. Then at a stop light she dropped idle and stalled. wouldn't start, pushed her to the side and she started up. Now idle is fluctuating like crazy. What gives?
